Undergraduate field attachments
The purpose of field attachment for university undergraduate’s is to teach practical oriented graduates that meet the required job related competences a introduction to the mining sector.
The specific objectives of field attachment include:
- To enable students get hands on and real life experience they are expected to work in when they graduate.
- To provide an opportunity for students and academic staff to interact with the stakeholders and potential employers and thus appreciate field situations that will also generate information for curriculum review and improvement.
- To develop student understanding of work ethics, employment demands, responsibilities and opportunities.
- To enhance and strengthen linkages between ADT Africa and and various stakeholders.
- To educate students on all aspects of Exploration Drilling including associated drilling additives; i.e. drill muds, fuel, diamond bits, reaming shells, tri-cones, drilling rods. Thereafter sample recovery, cutting the sample core and managing the core boxes.
- To improve the Country’s knowledge of Drilling operations and technology advancements through R&D. Whereby creating a a forum for the exchange of information on the latest drilling technologies and experiences – best practices.
